When Adil Baguirov chose to leave the Soviet Union for the United States, he held a dream for gaining an education that led to business dreams. Since that young age of 15 when he relocated to Michigan and began his studies, Baguirov has become a significantly successful businessman and leader in the Dayton, Ohio region.

He earned his degree from the University of Southern California in 1999 then, later, a PhD from the prestigious international relations school MGIMO University. This education has helped him gain a current role as principal with Dayton’s American Power, a premier logistics, warehousing and trucking company.

Adil Baguirov’s accolades have been plentiful among career and community as he gained this expertise. He has served as a lecturer and panel speaker on numerous occasions, such as guest lecturer at George Washington University. He was also selected as one of the “Young Leaders” at the NATO Summit in 2006.

Dayton Schools are Better, Thanks to Adil Baguirov

Adil BaguirovOne of the most active and effective members of the Board of Education for Dayton Public Schools in Ohio, Adil Baguirov has largely met and exceeded the expectations of the the voters who put him in that position in 2013. During his time on the Board, he has thus far been able to oversee an improvement in the technology available in the schools and he has helped to bring greater responsibility and accountability to the school district’s finances. One great example is the financing he secured, at just 2.06 percent, to replace Dayton’s aging and increasingly dangerous school bus fleet. He was able to secure 115 brand-new buses that are among the best available. They will also save money on maintenance because these vehicles come with a 10-year bumper-to-bumper warranty.

Not only are the new buses much safer and more comfortable for the children, but they are also supported by students and parents. This is a common sentiment during Adil Baguirov’s four years on the school board for the second-poorest district in Ohio, which has more than 600 school districts. Before Adil Baguirov, the Dayton Public Schools were facing a state takeover. However, as a result of his and other board members’ efforts to modernize the schools system, the schools are the they have been in decades, to the point that they received an “A” on their last state report and no longer have to worry about a state takeover.

At the heart of his decision to run for the Dayton school board is Adil Baguirov’s desire to express his passion for his community. That passion is so strong, he will do anything to benefit Dayton. In fact, the key to a strong community lies in education and the key to education these days lies in both technology and fiscal accountability and responsibility, as well as student comfort and safety. it is why he does what he does.

Adil Baguirov

During his campaign for Dayton Public Schools’ Board of Education in 2013, Adil Baguirov made three simple campaign promises. He promised to bring the school system a better cultural and academic curriculum, of course, because they needed to do something different, as the second worst district in the state of Ohio. When you look at his background, Adil Baguirov has a lot to offer. He owns one of the best logistics and transportation company in all of Dayton and he is also a prolific commercial real estate investor of some note. Adil has also authored some academic books and articles and he also is highly valued for his talents as a public speaker and lecturer.

Adil Baguirov has also moderated a number of academic conferences and he has audited many university-level classes. He has also played a key role in research at several think tanks. That is why he felt confident running for a position on the Dayton Public Schools’ Board of Education. It’s also obvious that the people in the district agreed, since they elected him.

In all, Adil Baguirov made three primary promises during his campaign. He promised better financial transparency and accountability on the part of the district. Adil also promised to bring better technology to the schools, including better computers for students, special software to provide academic support for students and a mobile app to provide parents with more information and control over the school experience. He also promised to see to it that more money made it into the classroom. He was actually able to fulfill all three promises and largely exceeded expectations in every way.
